On March, 4, 2012 a sixth presentation concert of the Musical Olympus Festival took place in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York
The parade of the winners consisted of the participants of Musical Olympus Festival in St. Petersburg: Stilian Kirov (Bulgaria, conductor), Third Prize and Orchestra Prize, The Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition, Athens (Greece), 2010; Alexej Gorlatch (Ukraine, piano), First Prize, The ARD International Music Competition, Munich (Germany), 2011; Christoph Croise (Switzerland, cello), Grand Prix, “The IBLA Foundation Grand Prize” Competition, Ragusa, Sicily (Italy), 2010; Ashu (USA, saxophone), First Prize, “The International Salon de Virtuosi Career”, New York (USA), 2008, Mario Chang (Guatemala, tenor), First Prize, The Francisco Vinas International Singing Competition, Barcelona (Spain), 2011. The New York audience welcomed the young musicians with a standing ovation. “Apart from their talent and mastery, our musicians possess positive energy that they generously share with their listeners,.That is why people leave their concerts elated with emotions”, says Irina Nikitina, president of Musical Olympus Foundation.
Traditionally at the concerts of Musical Olympus Festival the audience chooses the best musician, who is awarded with the Audience Award - an Easter egg made by artist-jeweler Vladimir Mikhailov. This year the award was given to tenor Mario Chang, who performed E la solita storia del pastore from “L'arlesiana” (F. Cilea), Non ti Scordar di Me (E.De Curtis), Che gelida manina from “La Bohème” (G. Puccini) and, as an encore, “La donna e mobile” (G. Verdi).
