On 3rd of July 2013, General Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi, head of the Egyptian Armed Forces removed President Mohamed Morsi, suspended the Egyptian Constitution after a long and still ongoing public protest, calling for a new presidential and Shura Council elections. Adly Mansour was appointed as interim president responsible to form a transitional technocratic government. President Morsi was put under house arrest and Muslim Brotherhood leaders were arrested. The announcement was followed by demonstrations and clashes between supporters and opponents of the coup throughout Egypt.
There were mixed international reactions to the events. Most of the Arab world was either supportive or neutral. Other states either condemned or expressed concern over the coup. Much media coverage followed on whether it was a coup d’etat or a revolution.

Objectives:
1) To analyse the February 2011 Revolution, the Tahrir Square events that led to the downfall of the Mubarak regime;
2) To look at what went ‘wrong’ with President Morsi’s leadership in Egypt;
3) To examine the factors that led to the downfall of President Morsi;
4) To propose a possible roadmap on the future Egypt.
