Mr Rudloff studied economics at the University of Berne and graduated in 1965. He joined Kidder Peabody International in New York in 1968, he became Managing Director in 1970, Chairman of Kidder Peabody Inc, in 1976. In 1980, he joined Credit Suisse First Boston, became deputy Chairman in 1982 and Chairman and CEO in 1989. In 1986 he joined the Executive board of Credit Suisse Zurich in charge of all the securities business of the Swiss bank. In 1990 until 1993 he became a member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse holding. From 1995 to 1998, Mr Rudloff was the Chairman of MC-Banque Bruxelles Lambert Eastern Europe. In 1995 Mr Rudloff became Vice Chairman of Sandoz and after the merger with Ciba-Geigy Vice Chairman, Head of Remuneration and Member of the Audit Committee of Novartis, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies, until 2011. In 2006 he was as well, Chairman of the Audit Committee of Rosneft Oil Company, from 2006 – 2013 he was Vice Chairman of the Board and Member of the Audit Committee. From 2005 – 2011 he served as Chairman of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA).
He also served as Chairman of Bluebay asset management group. Today Mr Rudloff serves on the Board of New World Resources NV., TBG Ltd (Thyssen Bornemisza Group) as well as Guardian Capital Group Ltd, the Canadian asset management group as well as on the Advisory Board of Landeskreditbank Baden-Württemberg and on the Board of ICMB International Center for Monetary and Banking studies, an independent not-for-profit Foundation which aims at facilitating the exchange of ideas, information and research in the fields of international money, banking and finance.
