Biography:

In 1959 after being graduated from the evangelical college of Zahle with a high school and baccalaureate degree (mathematics) then the Haygazyan college in Beirut Archbishop Niphon Saikali  was ordained to the diaconate by his spiritual father Metropolitan of Heliopolis Niphon Saba.

In 1964 after he had graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy with a degree in theology, he was immediately consecrated to the priesthood and elevated at the same date to the rank of archimandrite.

In the same year of 1964 he was appointed secretary of Metropolitan of Zahle and Heliopolis Niphon Saba, then he became his assistant. In the same period of time he taught mathematics and English at the school of St. Anna in Rayak (Lebanon) and he was appointed assistant of the Diocese church court in Zahle and worked in this function for 10 years. The work of penance in Moscow of His Eminence Archbishop Niphon has lasted since 1977 when he arrived in Moscow in the rank of archimandrite.

In 1988 he was elected Archbishop of Philipopolis by the Holy Synod of Antioch headed by His Beatitude Patriarch Ignatius IV. His Eminence Archbishop Niphon was elevated to the rank of bishop on in 1988 in the Cathedral of the Dormition in Damascus (Syria) headed by His Beatitude Patriarch of Antioch Ignatius IV in the presence of Metropolitan Filaret Vakhromeyev who was the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Elevated to the degree of Archbishop by the Synod of the Patriarchate of Antioch headed by the Patriarch of Antioch in 2009.

His Eminence Archbishop Niphon has been recently awarded with the Order «For Faith and Motherland» by Cossacks, and he is an honorary member of the club of the Academy of Diplomacy of Russia. In 2003 Archbishop Niphon was awarded with an eminent decoration of Lebanon, the Order of «Lebanese Dignity» by the President of Lebanon. In 2007 was awarded with the Order «Friendship» by the President of Russia «for the big personal contribution to strengthening friendly communications between peoples of Russia and Middle East».
