Head of the European Integration studies, Institute of Europe, Russian Academy of Sciences
Olga Potemkina graduated from Moscow State “Lomonosov” University. She is currently head of the European integration division at the Institute of Europe. She joined the Institute in 1994 as a researcher, and afterwards she worked as a head of the regional studies sector. Moreover, she gives lectures on EU issues, mainly JHA and EU enlargement, at the Moscow State Institute on International Relations (MGIMO-University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. After the training course at the College of Europe (Brugge) in September 2005 she started lecturing on JHA issues at the Russian European College in Moscow. Olga Potemkina was executive director, and currently is a member of the Board of the Association of European studies, Russia.
Prior to this, Olga Potemkina was a researcher at the Institute of Comparative Political Sciences Russian Academy of Sciences, where she conducted research on immigration processes in Europe and completed her dissertation in history.
Her research activities currently focus on JHA: immigration policy; visa policy; fight against organized crime; EU Enlargement and Russia; EU-Russia relations. On these topics, she wrote articles, booklets and chapters in the recent years.
