Alexey Sarabyev graduated from Department of Philology of Middle Eastern Christianity of the Faculty of History and Philology of the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University.
In 2003-2006 he gained his postgraduate study at the Institute of Oriental Studies, RAS.
Since 2006 he works at the Center for Arabic and Islamic Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Scienсes.
Alexey Sarabyev is a member of the Russian Interdisciplinary Mission to the Republic of Yemen (seasons 2009, 2010) and member of International “Al-Wasatiya” Conference (May, 2010, Beirut).
He is an author of several scientific papers and prepared for publication two books: “At Home, Abroad: Migration of the Christians of Syria and Lebanon, second half of XIX – first half of XXth c.” and “Maronites: Traditions, History, Politics” (co-author with Prof. Mikhail Rodionov).
Now he works about the scientific monograph: “Syro-Lebanese Diasporas: History and Modernity”.
At the Institute of Oriental Studies he has been actively take part in organizing activities.
Alexey Sarabyev is an administrator of the web site of Institute of Oriental Studies, RAS (www.ivran.ru).
His research interests: inter-confessional relations in the Middle East, history of Middle Eastern Christian denominations, new and modern history of the Arab Mashreq and South Arabia.
