Biography:

Ralf-Rene Weingaertner studied law, psychology, economics and political and social sciences in both Germany and the United States (LLM). He obtained postgraduate education in personal management, career guidance, public and labour law, social security systems and public administration and budget management (MBA).

He gained Ph.D in sociology on theories of modernization.

Since 1988 Mr. Weingaertner has held posts in both national and international public administration including higher management positions in the following institutions: the Berlin Public Employment Service, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Intenational Labour Organisation, the German Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs, Treuhandanstalt Headquarters Berlin, the European Commission and the German Representation to the European Union.

In January 2004, Ralf-Rene Weingaertner was appointed director of Youth and Sport at the Council of Europe.
