Biography:

Zaur Hasanov is leading researcher of Ancient History department, Institute of History of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences.


He gained  the MD (Medical Doctor degree) at Azerbaijan State Medical University, Baku, Azerbaijan (1985-1991) and obtained (PhD, History) at Azerbaijan History Museum of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences.


The fields of his scientific interest include researching the history of Cimmerians and Scythians (and their genetic predecessors) whose history covers a period from XVII BC to IV-III BC.
Current research is a Dr. Sc. dissertation (Doctor of Science) – “Royal Scythians and the State of Ashguz”. The work concentrates on the Royal Scythian state (Ashguz) South of the Caucasian Mountains in VII and VI centuries B.C.
