Biography:

Raymond Taras obtained his education at Universite de Montreal (Political Science, 1967), University of Essex (Comparative Politics, 1974). Also he gained Ph.D. at University of Warsaw (Political Studies, 1982).
Since 1996 he is a Professor of Tulane University. He was a Visiting Professor at Aalborg University, Denmark in 1999 and Visiting Assistant Professor, University of Kentucky in 1983-1984. From 1997 to 1999 he was Consultant of International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, Stockholm. He was a Visiting Fellow at such Universities as European University Institute (Florence, 2010), Stanford University (2006, 2009).
His research interests include such subjects as: International Relations; Russian-Latin American Relations, Nationalism, Postnationalism, and Identity Politics; Casta Paintings, etc.
He is a Member of Research Council of National Science Foundation and National Research Council, National Science Foundation.
He is author of many publications, the most recent are “Understanding Ethnic Conflict” (2010, 4th edition. With Rajat Ganguly.
