Biography:

Currently he is a head of department of sociology of Family and Demography, Faculty of Sociology of Moscow State “Lomonosov” University (MSU) and expert of Council on the Social Policy, Council Federation of Russia.
From 1967 to 1969 he was the industrial sociologist.
In 1969 he obtained a magister of philosophy diploma at Moscow State “Lomonosov” University (MSU). After graduation he became researcher, Institute of Sociology, Academia Sciences USSR (1969-1975).
He gained Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in 1973.

In 1978 he obtained the diploma of associate professor of demography. From 1975 to 1984 he served as a researcher and head of Department Sociology Population, MSU. From 1984 to 1991 he was the head of department Sociology of Reproductive Health and Parenthood, Institute of Sociology AS USSR. In 1993 he worked in York University, England, Department Social Policy and Health.
Now, he also is the member of Academic Councils (1981-2005), Academician of IIA UN (1993 – till now), International Future Research Academy (1998 – till now).

Anatoly Antonov served as invited reporter on the international conferences in Bonn, London, Helsinki, Varna, Luven la Neev, Washington, New York, Beijing, Provo (USA), Chicago, Stockholm.

He is holder of such grants as British Council (1993), The Soros Fond (1996 and 1997), Russian Humanitarian Scientific Fond (1995-2005), Russian Fond Fundamental Research (1997-1998), International Fond Education (1996-2001), UN Fond Population (2000-2001), MSLU (2004, 2006).
