Prof. Seyed Javad Miri is expert in the areas of social theory, sociological theory, history of religions and philosophy. He holds position of director of International Relations and Scientific Cooperation, Institute of Humanities and Cultural Studies (Sweden).
He got his bachelor and master degrees respectively from Sweden at Goteborg University and then moved in 1998 to England where he got his doctoral degree at Bristol University at the department of sociology where he worked on the question of social theory based on intercivilizational dialogue by comparing sacred intellectual tradition and secular intellectual tradition in the works of Ali Shariati and Allama Iqbal from Muslim Intellectual Tradition and Giddens and Goffman from Modernist Intellectual Tradition. During 2007- 2012 he was visiting professor at Sharif University at Department of Philosophy of Science (Tehran-Iran).
Since October 2009 Prof. Seyed Javad Miri have become a Research Associate at the Center for Critical Research on Religion in USA and he is visiting professor at the University of Religions and Denominations of Qom (Iran) since 2012.
He has published several books and over 70 articles both in US and UK on various issues related to social theory, philosophy and religion from a transcendental point of departure.
